A Boathouse Ceremony, Patio Cocktail Hour, killer Reception … and an After Party!
#t2sce Event Recap 05/24/2015

Many couples I get to work with connect well before their celebration date. When you want to put the right professionals in place for your Big Day, it’s pretty common.  So Caren & Greg connected with me about 16 months before their celebration via a brief phone call. They were referred by their photographer (John Arcara Photography), so they were quite confident in our match. We connected in person at a Bridal Show, and from there, we were set to celebrate together!

Caren Chapinski & Greg Hort (#HortPartyOf2) shared their vows inside the Boathouse Chapel, a gorgeous rustic setting. Then they treated their 130 guests to a beautiful outdoor Cocktail Hour. I provided them with a soundtrack and microphone support for the Ceremony, and then produced the perfect Cocktail Hour that reflected their style and fit the scene. They couldn’t have asked for more gorgeous weather, too! Though admittedly, I had little to do with that.

Once the celebration got under way, it was non-stop smiles and dancing for this group. This venue tends to send a “destination wedding” vibe, so guests will usually make a weekend getaway out of the evening. That means, they party just a little harder. It was quite a reunion of old friends! With music programming on the newer, more contemporary side, I made sure not to ignore the slightly older family and friends. So, we incorporated just a couple of fun throwbacks while concentrating on the “let’s dance our faces off” tracks!

IMG_5408 (1)Enhancements I provided via SCE Event Group included music programming and setup for Ceremony and Cocktail Hour; a beautiful custom Monogram, which I projected outside on the boathouse (cool, huh?!); music for Reception; followed by an anything-goes After Party for the diehards! This has been a growing trend over the last few years, and is a great way to keep the party going … AFTER the party! Many venues are encouraging this as a way to let your hair down, enjoy a few (more) drinks with your guests, and just relax!

One of the moments of the evening that really stands out was when Caren’s long-time friend, Angie, sang “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry. This was a gift, of sorts, to the Bride & Groom, and I coordinated directly with Angie before their day to make it come together. So, towards the end of dinner, Angie and I made a moment that will forever stay with Caren and Greg, as they danced alone on the dance floor, and their friend serenaded them. You could hear a pin drop between the notes of music.

These are the personal moments that make a celebration absolutely amazing.
